Though I already knew I wanted to use crushed pastels, I had a hard time figuring out a good method/concept for the 8 color harmonies. After playing around with the use of light, composition, color density, and color combinations, I decided to have all my powdered pastels on top of a lamp to highlight the colors and make it look like planets or landscapes. With the colors I chose and with the method I used, it created the effect I wanted: gossamer and foreign.
