Southwest Chief Route
Basic InfoRoute: Chicago - L.A.
Distance: 2265 miles
Time: 43 hours
Cars: sleeper, coach, diner, lounge, baggage
- chart of distance/elevation - http://www.trainweb.org/usarail/southwestchief.htm
- helpful map of route - http://tickets.amtrak.com/secure/content/routeatlas/index.html?urlroute=47
- specific cities it passes through http://www.railpassengerusa.com/powerpoint/SouthwestChief/SouthwestChief2.HTM
Using the information on miles traveled, I figured out the amount of miles traveled in each state and then got the percentage of the journey traveled in each state.

IA - 58m - 2%
MO - 217m - 9%
